Her mother Haleema told the Times of Gainesville newspaper that she and her husband Miguel started reading to Daliyah 'right when she was born'.
Their daughter would also hear them reading stories to their two other children, she said.
'We would literally read every day, about 15 to 20 minutes a day,' Mrs Arana said. 'By the time she was 18, 19 months, we realized she could recognize a lot of the words. And we kind of took it from there.'
By the time she turned three, Daliyah was reading books on her own.
The little girl signed up to the Georgia 1,000 Books B4 Kindergarten Program - but ticked all the books off her list before preschool. She hopes to have read 1,500 by the time she starts kindergarten this autumn.
Mr and Mrs Haleema wrote to Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden about their daughter's achievement and Ms Hayden was so impressed she invited Daliyah for a tour last week and to serve as 'Librarian for the Day'.

Daliyah hopes to become a librarian herself one day and wants to encourage other children to read.

The Punch reports that Emmanuel used a
stick of broom to open four safes and stole the money at their residence
on Sholanke street in the Ebute-Meta area of Lagos state. The money was
meant for her boss' children’s school fees. After the deed, she was
said to have tried running away by jumping into a fast moving vehicle.

A 20-year-old housemaid, Loveth
Emmanuel, has been arraigned before an Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court for
allegedly stealing N700,000 from the safes of her boss, Rufus.
Describing Emmanuel as an ingrate who did
not appreciate everything done for her, Rufus said he gave her the
same privilege as his children since he came into their house about a
year ago.
But the Cross-river state indigene
claimed that her boss got her arrested because she wanted to sit for an
examination, adding that it was when she was not given time for the exam
that she decided to flee. She went on to say that the stolen money
issue happened since July 2016, and she had been forgiven until she was
arrested while going for the exam. She went further to say that since
sh'e been staying with Rufus, she's not had any breathing space in the
house.
She was, however, arraigned on two counts of stealing. And the case was adjourned till January 25, 2017.

WICKED MAN WHO KILLED HIS WIFE AND THREW HER BODY OUT OF THE WINDOW!
A 26-year-old man, Mathew Oguntade, has
just been arrested by the Ogun state police command in Abeokuta, for
allegedly killing his 20-year-old wife, Mary on Friday, January 13.
The couple, who lived behind the Anglican Church,
Owode-Ijako, in the Ado Odo/Ota local government area of the state, was
reported to have engaged in a minor disagreement which led into a fight
before the unfortunate incident happened.
According to the community development association
chairman, Iskilu Kareem, who reported the case to the police, he
disclosed that he received a telephone call from a member of the
vigilance group in the area that the husband and wife were engaged in a
scuffle, adding that before he got to their house, the husband had
strangled his wife, threw the body outside through a window and ran
away.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, said: “The
Divisional Police Officer, Sango Police Division, Akinsola Ogunwale, a
Superintendent of Police, later led detectives to the scene and took the
corpse to the Ifo General Hospital’s mortuary, after which a manhunt
was launched for the suspect.”
However, the suspect Mathew Oguntade, was arrested
the following day as the case was transferred to the Murder Section of
the State Criminal Investigation Intelligence Department, Eleweran,
Abeokuta.
