Bradley Hubbard was arrested at his home in Florida on Monday after his roommate finally had enough and told authorities he'd been abusing his pit bull named Baby Girl ever since he bought it.
The roommate didn’t immediately raise the alarm, because she didn’t want to get him arrested. She
told investigators she "did not want to get Hubbard in trouble".
But she finally realised the situation had got so bad that she even developed "fears for the safety of the dog" when on December 28, Hubbard had apparently taken Baby Girl from her, took the dog to his bedroom and locked the door.
She told deputies she heard the bed making noises while Hubbard grunted and moaned.
At that point, she "could not take it anymore," so she ran outside and called the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
The roommate told ECSO deputies Hubbard had allegedly been having sex with his dog for approaching four years.
The woman described one instance when she apparently saw Hubbard engaging in a sexual act with Baby Girl when she passed by his room. The dog was "licking him all over" as he lay in the bed, she claimed.
She told authorities she saw the dog make contact with Hubbard's genitals. When she entered the bedroom to confront him, Hubbard yelled at her, told her to get out of his room and called her crazy, she claimed.
What started as infrequent incidents escalated during 2016, the roommate said. The witness claimed Baby Girl used to whimper and cry out in pain each time it was victimised, but now the dog no longer did so.
The responding deputy removed the dog from the home and took it to get checked out at a local veterinary clinic.
The deputy noted that Baby Girl was "very aggressive" and loyal to only one human at a time.
The veterinarian performed a rape test on the animal, which apparently revealed injuries were consistent with the roommate's claims of abuse.
