There are so many health risks
attached to not carrying a pregnancy through. Some people by chance have
complications during pregnancy and this may result in them going
through medical procedure to save them.
A deliberate attempt of removing or
getting rid of unwanted pregnancy is referred to as abortion. This is
done to cut short the life of the growing fetus in the womb due to one
reason or the other. Taking medications or going through a minor
surgical procedure could bring pregnancy to an early end.
Apart from the murder committed, the
mother also puts herself at rick for going through the procedure. The
dangers involved with having an abortion is worse than that carrying the
pregnancy through and having the baby. Abstinence is still regarded as
the safest means of preventing pregnancy.
Find below some of the dangers involved with having an abortion:
1. Heavy bleeding
Many ladies have lost their lives as a
result of bleeding heavily after an abortion. Bleeding after an abortion
may be unavoidable but being unable to stop the blood flow is another
issue entirely.
Hemorrhaging may be treated by surgery. Loss of blood can however, weaken the patient and make her die in the process.
2. Clotting of blood in the uterus
Another thing that may happen after
having an abortion is clotting of blood in the uterus. This will result
in severe cramp that may pull the strings of one's life.
Removing the blood clots may be done through a repeated surgical abortion procedure.
3. Tearing of the wall of the uterus
While conducting an abortion, the medical instrument can pierce the walls of the uterus resulting in perforated uterus.
This can result in heavy bleeding while
putting the patient at risk of contracting an infection. To fix this, a
surgical procedure may be needed to fix the uterine tissues. In extreme
cases, the uterus may have to be removed completely.
4. Incomplete abortion risks
Another risk associated with having an
abortion is incomplete abortion. Most times, ladies go to quacks who are
driven by money.
This quacks may not complete the
procedure and may leave remnants of the dead fetus in them. Not draining
the uterus of the fetus or the other substances in it may result in
infection and bleeding. Fixing this problem involves another medical
procedure.
5. Tearing of the cervix
During an abortion, the cervix may be
torn in order to allow the instruments to pass into the uterus. It takes
a while before the cervix heals and during this time, you are opened to
infections.
6. Risk of having pelvic infection
While the cervix has been torn open during the abortion, germs and bacteria can have access to the uterus and affect the pelvic regions.
Although the infections may be treated
with the use of antibiotics, the pain and discomfort that comes with it
is usually severe. In rare cases, surgical procedures may be done to see
to this.
7. Infertility
One troubling risk of having an abortion
is the inability to give birth later in life. Surgical abortion often
lead to the growth of scar tissue in the uterus.
This may alter the menstrual cycle and
can boost menstrual cramps. Infertility, miscarriages and threatened
abortion are the terms you may have to deal with in the nearest future.
8. Complications that may arise from anesthesia
Some women prefer being given anesthesia
before the surgical abortion is being done. This alone increases the
risk of having complications during the procedure as an over-dose may
kill the woman. Not using anesthesia will also result in a great deal of
pain to the women.
