The House of Representatives has shown
its concern towards the plight of Albinos in Nigeria and seeks to
create an agency for the welfare of Albinos.
A Bill for an act to provide for the
establishment of the National Agency for Albinism and Hypo-pigmentation
(NAAH) is currently in the lower house.
The bill is sponsored by Honourable Linus Okorie representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo federal constituency in Ebonyi state.
The bill passed through second reading in the green chamber today, January 19.
The House also recognised the presence of
members of the Albino Foundation, seated in the gallery before today's
plenary started.
They were led by their Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jake Epelle.
Members of the foundation were recognised
by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Honourable Yussuf Lasun who
presided over today's sitting.
